SJIEC 9th Annual Conference 2012

The 2012 Annual Conference will be held on Saturday 2 June at the Redfern Community Centre, Sydney from 8.30am until 4.00pm. See below for a downloadable ‘save the date’ flyer. The conference program and registration form will be released in the early months of 2012. Stay tuned!

Taking Action!

The 8th Annual Conference was a great success and we would like to thank the presenters and all those who attended for their enthusiasm and involvement. The On the Couch session produced some important discussion, and ultimately, a long ‘to do’ list for everyone to take action on pertinent issues. Please see below for the notes taken during the couch session – this document contains suggestions for action for all conference attendees and SJ members.

Children in detention, refugees and asylum seekers

SJIEC is appauled that children are still in detention (see below for Immigration detention statistics as of May 2011). We also have grave concerns regarding the Government’s plans to deport refugees and asylum seekers to Malaysia and any other nation. Please see below SJIEC’s letter to the Prime Minister, and two Myth Busters flyers for download. Feel free to use wording from the SJ letter to craft your own. Post, email or fax your letters to:
